South Korea's Kospi took the lead, rising more than 5 percent at the opening and is now up 4.4 percent.
Japan's Nikkei 225 index is up 2.1 percent, while the Topix is up 1.8 percent.
There is also strength on the stock market in China. Shenzhen is up 1.6 percent and the Shanghai Stock Exchange is up a more modest 0.4 percent.
The Hong Kong Stock Exchange's Hang Seng also rose 1.7 percent.
Airlines in particular are leading the morning trade.
