Asia's leading stock exchanges started the trading week on the second day in good spirits, as Monday's harvest on Wall Street indicated that a possible upturn may be in the cards.
In Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 had grown by 0.5 per cent at lunchtime, while the Topix index added 0.3.
Even more cheerful was the mood in Hong Kong, where the Hang Seng index soared.
The dull tones were also heard from the composite index in Shanghai and Shenzhen, as these added 0.3 per cent, respectively 0.5 per cent.
Reasonably cheerful was also the mood, which was reflected in the Kospi index, which rose by 0.3 per cent.
