The Tokyo Stock Exchange's Nikkei 225 index stood at plus 0.7 percent after lunch, while the broader Topix index pointed to plus 0.5 percent.
Hong Kong's Hang Seng stood simultaneously at plus 0.3 percent.
In Shanghai and Shenzhen, the composite index traded up 0.2 and 0.7 percent, respectively.
