The development is mainly pointing upwards on Asia's leading stock exchanges during the initial Wednesday trading, since USA's President Donald Trump hinted that his trade war with China can be scaled down.

The Nikkei 225 index on the Tokyo Stock Exchange as well as the broader Topix index were up 1.7 percent when investors went to lunch.

In Hong Kong, the Hang Seng index was simultaneously up 2.2 percent. The composite index in Shanghai was hovering around zero, while the composite index in Shenzhen was up 0.6 percent.

South Korea's Kospi index was up 1.4 percent.

USA's tariffs on Chinese goods at 145 percent are a "very high level" and will be "significantly reduced", Trump said on Tuesday.

Trump also assured that he has "no intention" of dismissing the American central bank chief Jerome Powell.
