An elbow injury ultimately required surgery, which in turn caused Hedman to miss 22 games in the NHL.
However, just in time for the Winter Olympics in Italy, Hedman is back in action again. In his comeback game between Tampa Bay and Boston, he was eased in and played just over ten minutes.
"It feels good in my legs, but I have to get the timing in my hands right, too," Hedman said in a televised interview after the first period, according to Aftonbladet.
Boston then looked to be heading for an easy victory. A 3–1 lead after the first period became 5–1, but the home team turned around and tied the game in the final period. The game then went to penalties, which Tampa Bay won.
