"It's taken a long time and been a journey that has had its ups and downs, but to finally get it done feels amazing," the 26-year-old said, according to the NHL's website.
The Gothenburg native saved 22 shots and recorded a shutout in his 104th regular-season game in five seasons with the NHL club.
"As a backup goalie, you get tough games sometimes, and we've actually left him out a few times, to be honest. Everyone is really happy for him," said Chicago coach Jeff Blashill.
Söderblom, third goalie for Tre Kronor at last year's World Cup, has been part of the Chicago Blackhawks organization since the 2021–2022 season.
