Gurnah, who received the Nobel Prize in 2021, is coming to Sweden with a new novel in his luggage. "Theft" is being published in Swedish at the beginning of June and he will be performing on October 23rd at Kulturhuset Stadsteatern in Stockholm.
The list of visiting authors this autumn also includes Chigozie Obioma from Nigeria, Judith Hermann from Germany, Leïla Slimani from France, and Nobel Prize-nominated Alexis Wright from Australia.
This autumn's program is the last one that Ida Linde and Athena Farrokhzad, program managers at Kulturhuset Stadsteatern, are responsible for. They are leaving this summer and claimed at the beginning of the year that they were forced to leave due to their commitment to the Palestinians in Gaza.
A feather in the cap for the duo is that this autumn's list is also crowned by Arundhati Roy from India, who had a huge breakthrough in 1997 with "The God of Small Things". Now the author and environmental and peace activist is current with the book "My Shield and My Storm". On November 4th, she will be conversing with Judith Kiros on the author's scene.
