"I just found out that an Olympic figure skater used one of my songs without permission. It was broadcast all over the world... huh? Is this normal in the Olympics?" McKinnon wrote on Platform X.
This is not the first time music rights have come into focus during the Games in Italy. Last week, there was speculation about whether Spaniard Tomás-Llorenc Guarino Sabaté would be allowed to compete with music from the film "Minions," before Universal Studios gave the green light.
McKinnon is not angry, but he wants to protect his copyright.
"I just want to make sure that artists' rights are respected," he writes.
