Stina Blackstenius started and Smilla Holmberg came on as Arsenal can now call themselves the best in the world after a 3-2 win over Brazil's Corinthians in the Champions Cup final.

Arsenal needed extra time to win the first edition of the Champions Cup club tournament, which featured the champion teams from all six confederations, at home in London.

Swedish striker Blackstenius scored one of the goals in the semi-final against Moroccan Rabat (6–0) on Wednesday, but was kept scoreless and substituted at half-time in the final against Corinthians. Instead, Australian Caitlin Foord became the hero for the “Gunners” in extra time.

AFP reports that, with the victory, Arsenal took home the largest prize ever at women's club level: about the equivalent of 20 million Swedish kronor - almost four times what they received when they won the Champions League last season.
