The attack reportedly took place in the western region of Tillabéri.
"31 people were executed by lawless individuals and four more were taken to hospital with serious injuries," the student associations said in a joint statement. It is not clear who was behind the attack.
Several extremist movements targeting both civilian and military targets are active in the West African country, including an IS-linked group.
