Equipped with military weapons and explosives, the six robbers struck on Thursday afternoon, while 28 employees were present at the facility.
Five employees were slightly injured in the explosion and three were taken to hospital for check-ups.
The suspected perpetrators, believed to be experienced criminals, were arrested shortly afterwards in the neighboring town of Vernissieux, a source told AFP. Another woman has been arrested on suspicion of being an accomplice, the source said.
The robbers therefore did not get away with their loot, which is estimated to be worth 12 million euros, equivalent to just over 131 million Swedish kronor.
Less than two weeks ago, France was rocked by a spectacular jewel heist at the Louvre in Paris. On Thursday, five more people were arrested on suspicion of the theft.
