Two armed robbers attacked a library in São Paulo and took eight engravings by the French artist Henri Matisse, among other things.

This was announced by the government of the Brazilian metropolis.

The robbers are also said to have taken five works by Brazilian artist Candido Portinari with them when they disappeared from the Mário de Andrade Library.

Authorities have not yet announced the value of the stolen works, which were part of an exhibition held in collaboration between the library and the São Paulo Museum of Modern Art.
