Arlanda had more international travelers in October than the corresponding month before the pandemic, according to new statistics from the state-owned airport company Swedavia.

Just over three million passengers travelled through Swedavia's ten airports in Sweden in October, which is an increase of 5 percent compared to the same month last year. Both international and domestic travel increased, up 6 and 3 percent respectively.

At Arlanda, Sweden's largest airport, growth was 9 percent. Just over 1.8 million passengers traveled abroad, which corresponds to an increase of 2 percent compared to October 2019, before the pandemic.

"It is a statement of strength, which is positive for the development of aviation and Swedish accessibility," says Jonas Abrahamsson, Swedavia's President and CEO, in a press release.

Just over 400,000 traveled domestically from Arlanda – an increase of 31 percent compared to October last year, but 13 percent fewer than the same month in 2019.

A total of just over 500,000 passengers traveled through Landvetter, Sweden's second largest airport, in October. This is an increase of 6 percent compared to October last year. International travel increased by 7 percent, while domestic travel decreased by 1 percent.
