Argentina risks sanctions partly for the banner about the Falkland Islands that was displayed after the victory over England in the semi-final, but also for the brawl that broke out between players and officials after the final against Spain.
The International Football Association Board (FIFA) prohibits players and officials from displaying political messages in connection with World Cup matches, but immediately after the match against England, players displayed a banner with the text "The Falkland Islands are Argentine," alluding to the conflict over the Falkland Islands.
After the World Cup final against Spain, several players and officials got into an altercation right after the final whistle. Leandro Paredes, Nahuel Molina, Thiago Almada and assistant coach Roberto Ayala had to answer for their actions, as did Gavi in the Spanish team.
