The police were alerted shortly after 9 a.m. about the suspicious object, which was found at one of the hospital's side entrances.
The area was cordoned off, adjacent rooms in the hospital were evacuated and the bomb squad was called to the scene. Shortly after lunchtime, the police announced that the object had been checked and that "it was believed to have been empty."
"Technicians have been able to proceed to take care of the object for further examination," the police wrote on their website, adding that the cordons at the scene would be lifted.
