It comes 500 years after the first translation into Swedish - Gustav Vasa's Bible from 1526, when Swedish was given the place in the church that Latin had previously had.

The translators have gone back to the oldest manuscripts available, writes Dagens Nyheter.
This has meant, among other things, that Judas no longer “betrays” Jesus. In the new translation, Judas - just like Pontius Pilate - is instead allowed to “hand over” Jesus. In the old scriptures, the same Greek verb is used for Judas and Pilate, and now it is also translated the same way.
The last translation came in 1981.
