"You don't believe it's true that it's happening again," says Nina Eklöf, director of Västerås Museums, to SVT Västmanland.

According to the museum, nearly twenty new pits have been discovered. Although it is not possible to say for sure, Nina Eklöf believes the looters mostly found old bottle caps.

"I'm pretty sure that most of it is not interesting to us archaeologists. But they have dug up what is our whole and our context for understanding a place like this," she says.

After last year's looting at Anundshög, the issue of camera surveillance was raised, but no action was taken. In May this year, the investigation into violations of the Antiquities Act was closed because the police had no further leads to pursue.
