Hanna Lundberg was a surprise winner and completely dominant when the women's middle distance competition was decided at the European Championships in Lithuania. After winning gold, she was speechless.

Second place went to Pia Young Vik of Norway, and third to Venla Harju of Finland. Pre-race favourite Tove Alexandersson had a couple of big misses and finished 39th.
In the men's race, Anton Johansson took European Championship silver behind pre-race favourite Kasper Harlem Fosser of Norway. Fabian Aebersold of Switzerland took bronze.
