It is also unclear how much the company wants to raise through shares sold in connection with the IPO.

By choosing Nasdaq, Anthropic is taking a back seat to Elon Musk's space and AI company Space X, which was listed on the Nasdaq stock exchange in June rather than on the rival New York Stock Exchange.

Flagging major investments

In the prospectus, the company writes, among other things, that it had a loss of $81 billion in the first half of this year. Revenue was $16.3 billion.

The prospectus also flags investment commitments of almost $800 billion over ten years.

As recently as August, media speculation was rife that Anthropic would be worth around $2 trillion. However, current Anthropic owners are now expecting a valuation of between $1.5 trillion and $1.7 trillion, the Financial Times reports.

According to the newspaper, the timing of the prospectus points to the actual listing taking place sometime in November, after the midterm elections on November 3 but before the American holiday Thanksgiving on November 26.

Becomes ANT on stock market screens

According to the prospectus, the company's shares will be designated "ANT" when they begin trading on the stock exchange.

Ahead of its upcoming IPO, Anthropic has made headlines for raising questions about the safety of AI development. The Wall Street Journal highlights how a former Anthropic developer, Jason Coxon, warned that development is happening so quickly that humans will soon lose control of AI.

A top researcher at Anthropic, Evan Hubinger, subsequently wrote in a post on X that he sees a 10 percent probability that AI will kill all humans within ten years.
