"We need to slow down the pace at which we improve the capabilities of AI models. Development will still feel fast, and we need to use the time we gain wisely," the post says, according to CNN.
According to Amodei, development has progressed "significantly faster" in recent months, and AI technology now has the ability to improve itself.
"If this is not taken into account, it could mean that our ability to understand and control these systems becomes obsolete and must therefore be handled with caution, if at all," he writes further.
The post comes the day after OpenAI CEO Sam Altman called for slowing down AI development at an internal meeting.
AI researcher Jacob Coxon, who recently quit Anthropic in protest and previously also worked at competitor OpenAI, believes that neither of the two AI giants is acting responsibly.
“Those building AI seriously believe it could kill us all before the end of the decade,” he recently wrote on X.
