An AI model developed by Anthropic sent a fake tip about an unsolved murder to Philadelphia police, authorities say. They criticized the company for taking two months to report the incident.
Police say the tip was submitted in July through a public website where people can submit information about unsolved murders.
According to police, Anthropic said the model was conducting a test in which it interacted with randomly selected websites when the incident occurred.
