The suspicions relate to particularly serious drug crimes and money laundering. Since the start of the investigation, a total of 27 people have been detained and more arrests are expected, the police say. It is unclear when the latest arrests were made.
The origin of the investigation was two phones seized in western Sweden in the fall of 2023. Information from the phones led to an international drug network.
Much of the criminal activity has involved smuggling drugs to Australia. The network consisted of several companies that masked drug deals and laundered money. In an initial crackdown in March, 13 Swedes were arrested. Crackdowns have also been carried out in Spain, Thailand, Australia and Germany.
