We have talked about the verdict, and we will continue to work on analyzing the verdict and we will continue to have contact with each other to see how we should act going forward, says Eva Olsen, head of the nature and water department at the Västra Götaland County Administrative Board, to TT.
The decision on licensed hunting was made in November and according to it, 48 animals were to be shot in five counties: Örebro, Västmanland, Dalarna, Västra Götaland and Södermanland. However, the Swedish Society for Nature Conservation, among others, appealed the county administrative boards' decision on licensed hunting, which was to have begun on January 2, 2026 – and on Monday the Administrative Court ruled that the hunt should be stopped.
According to Eva Olsen, it is about the “legality of the decision” that is currently being worked on. If the five affected county administrative boards decide to appeal the Administrative Court's ruling, each county administrative board will do so separately.
The county administrative boards have three weeks to take a position on the issue.
We are very aware that time is short for this. So the issue is of course a priority for us, says Eva Olsen.
