Lööf writes in a post on Facebook that it has taken her a day to find the words.
"The message that Anna-Karin Hatt is leaving her assignment as party leader and cites hate and threats as a reason has touched me deeply."
"She owns her experiences and experiences, and I have all respect for her decision. But I also understand the reality she describes. Because I know how it feels”, writes Lööf.
Lööf highlights her own experiences of living with threats and hate during her 11.5 years as party leader.
"Death threats, empty cartridges in the mailbox, Nazis outside my home, hate campaigns in social media, threats against my family. I have sat eye to eye with a man who planned to kill me – for my values", she writes.
Lööf concludes her post by thanking Anna-Karin Hatt for her efforts in politics.
Center Party leader Hatt announced her resignation on Wednesday, after less than half a year in the position. As a reason, she cited the threats and hate she had to endure.
