After the first round, Nordqvist was two over par and in danger of missing the cut. But after a round of 68 on Friday, the Swede climbed up the leaderboard and will play on.
Nordqvist recorded seven birdies, but two bogeys and a double bogey dragged down the result.
The 39-year-old announced earlier this week that the tournament in Boston will be her last as a professional golfer.
"My emotions have been like a roller coaster, I'll try not to cry. It's mixed feelings because I've finally gotten to a place where I feel good on and off the course, and have actually played good golf the last couple of months, but it's time for a new chapter," Nordqvist said in an interview with Viaplay during the round.
Linnea Ström is also going well at four under par.
