Ann Wolff designed the popular "Snowball" candle lantern for Kosta Boda in 1973, but since the mid-1980s she has not received any copyright compensation because she had a ten-year limited copyright agreement.
In 2024, she decided to sue Kosta Boda retroactively for copyright compensation, but the case was dismissed.
Now there is an unexpected twist. The parties are publishing an anniversary edition of the candle lantern - and starting an art prize that will be awarded when Wolff turns 90 next year.
In addition, a copyright agreement has been signed that gives Wolff the right to compensation 70 years after her death. The proceeds will also finance the art prize.
