Hopes were high for the 23-year-old ahead of the Olympic competitions in Val di Fiemme, which concluded last week. But Anger left the championships with 20th place in the sprint as his best individual result, and two 10th-place finishes in the team relay and sprint relay.
During the Olympics, Anger developed a cold and did not start in Saturday's final 5000m. He will also miss the restart of the World Cup in Falun this weekend. The cold has developed into a bacterial ear infection, and Anger has been treated with penicillin since Wednesday, according to the ski association.
On Saturday, there will be a freestyle sprint and on Sunday, a skiathlon over 20 kilometers for women and men.
