Skellefteå's assistant coach Andreas Falk was given a match penalty after protesting an unpunished tackle in the SHL match against Brynäs.

Early in the match, Skellefteå defender Lars Bryggman was forced to leave after a hard tackle from Luke Witkowski that the referees did not call.

Bryggman did not return to play, which led to discussions between the Skellefteå bench and the referees before the second period.

The discussions resulted in a team penalty for Skellefteå and a match penalty for assistant coach Andreas Falk for "abuse of officials".

The home team thus began the second period on the penalty kill with a 1–0 lead.

Brynäs later equalized through Johannes Kinnvall, but Skellefteå took back the lead before the second period was over.

In the third, Jonathan Pudas punctuated the match with a goal to make it 3-1.
