On Instagram, Backman has posted a picture of an article about the film from Deadline and writes that he is more than overwhelmed. He describes the character Zara as one of the funniest people he has ever tried to portray, but also one of the most fragile.
"To be able to hand her over to Angelina Jolie, who has a depth and breadth as an actress that I actually cannot compare to anything else, is one of the great, great highlights of my career", he writes.
The director will be Marc Forester, who directed the American adaptation of "A Man Called Ove".
"Anxious People" is about a hostage drama at a flat viewing and the subsequent witness interrogations where everyone gets to describe their version. The book has previously been filmed in Swedish by Felix Herngren.
