"'Scandinavian Beauty II' is a fantastic work with a unique Swedish connection, and the sale represents another significant result for a work by Warhol on the Nordic art market," the auction house writes.
Warhol had been commissioned to paint a portrait and visited Stockholm in 1976. There he met a Swedish model whom he later met unexpectedly in New York. When he completed the commission, he chose to create two paintings instead.
The sister work 'Scandinavian Beauty' was sold at Bukowskis in 2011 for 12.1 million SEK.
