Director Andy Serkis has previously highlighted the importance of diversity in the film industry, but of the actors announced so far for his upcoming film, "The Hunt for Gollum," all are white, including Jamie Dornan, Kate Winslet, Leo Woodall, Elijah Wood and Sir Ian McKellen.
"Tolkien himself was strongly influenced by Norse mythology," Serkis explains in an interview with the BBC.
Making a politically correct version has not been the director's intention, neither now nor in the past.
"The county feels very, very white," he says.
The premiere of “The Hunt for Gollum” is scheduled for December 2027.
