AIK's prestigious acquisition Andronikos Kakoullis has not at all gotten things going since his arrival in Allsvenskan. Possibly the turning point came against Degerfors.

The spearhead got the chance from the start and showed himself from his best side with two goals in the 3–0 win.

The Cypriot striker made his best match in the AIK jersey so far – and was praised by the audience at Strawberry Arena.

When I score goals, I want the goals to mean three points. They did today, so it was nice, says the 23-year-old.

Took advantage of mistakes

In the first half, he struck after a huge mistake by Rasmus Forsell in the Degerfors goal. Forsell was supposed to receive a back pass but got stressed by Kakoullis, who got a toe on the ball that mockingly rolled into an empty goal.

I had thought that their goalkeeper was a bit slow and slow with his clearances before. So I thought that today maybe I could take the ball from him and I did, says Kakoullis.

In the second half, he kept himself forward again. A cross from Taha Ayari reached Kakoullis in the box, who with a well-placed header made it 2–0 – his second goal of the day and third in Allsvenskan.

It was a great ball from Taha. He told me before the match that he would give me opportunities and that I would score goals.

Rumored to leave

According to reports, AIK is looking into the possibility of selling the striker already after just over half a year in the club. Kakoullis admits that the last time has been tough, but that he only focuses on doing everything for AIK.

The last time has not been easy, but it's football. You can't change the past. It's just to be ready for what's to come, he says and continues:

The only thing I can say about the future is that I am 100 percent dedicated here. Even if I knew I was going to move tomorrow, I would do everything I can for AIK and do everything for the team.

AIK's coach Mikkjal Thomassen poured praise over his striker's attitude after the match.

It's very nice. It's been tough for him. I've said very clearly to him that I appreciate his dedication and his hard work. He deserves praise for now having turned around the difficult situation he has been in. I'm very happy for him.
