Kramer lost his Swedish record on 1,000 meters in early July, when Samuel Pihlström ran 2.16,55 during the GP competition in Karlstad.
During the corresponding competition in Varberg, Kramer, who competes for Djurgårdens IF, took back the Swedish record on the distance. The 28-year-old ran 2.14,98, and won the race with a large margin.
I'm really happy. Last time I was here in Varberg, I watched when it was GP here. Now I get to run 1,000 meters and set a Swedish record. I'm taking back my own record from Pihlström, so it's clear that I'm very happy about it. My body is responding well today, says Kramer.
The time is also a new Nordic outdoor record.
I'm in good shape, so it was just a matter of keeping it under control until 200 meters left, and then push hard at the end, says Kramer about the race.
Even though the main goal is the upcoming World Championship in September, he wants to achieve this type of result along the way.
Of course, the big goal is the World Championship, but also to come home and perform at the competitions here to begin with, says Kramer.
Second place went to Tom Dradiga, Uganda, who ran 2.19,41. Kabelo Mohlosi, South Africa, came third in 2.20,00.
