Of course, I don't want to be satisfied with second place, but this time I actually am, Kramer tells Dagens Nyheter.

A lingering injury to one thigh has kept Kramer off the track. He made a comeback during the indoor season, but it only resulted in one race.

Unsure about the start

It was not until Saturday's heats at the Swedish Championships that he was back. He admitted that he felt uncertain before the start and thought a lot about whether his body would hold up or not.

It seems to be holding up again. But there was no Swedish Championship gold. Samuel Pihlström launched a long sprint with 300 metres left in the race and Kramer could not respond.

"It's only been the last month that I've been able to train quite well. Before that, it wasn't much. So considering that, I'm pretty happy with the performance I did here at the Swedish Championships," says Kramer.

“Time to sharpen your form”

The European Championships will be held in Birmingham from August 10-16. The plan is for the Swedish middle-distance runner to be on the starting line.

In terms of injuries, it looks pretty good. I actually dare to say that now. But then of course I have to find my form too. Luckily I have just over two weeks so I think there will be time to sharpen my form.

Samuel Pihlström, who won both the 800 and 1,500 metres at the Swedish Championships, was pleased with his preparation for the European Championships, but also pleased to see Kramer back again.

I felt very fresh with 200 metres left so I pushed on. It seemed like Kramer was trying to hang on, but it's not really there for him right now. But there are two and a half weeks left until the European Championships so he will be good there, Pihlström tells SVT.
