Andreas Almgren lost his European record in the 10 kilometer road race in Castellón, Spain.
The Swedish running star and World Championship bronze medalist in the 10,000 meters in Tokyo last year finished third with a time of 26:45, a few seconds behind second-place Yann Schrub, who ran 26:43. The Frenchman thus broke Almgren's previous European record for the distance.
A month ago, Almgren ran a 10-kilometer road race in 26:45 in Valencia. The time was initially announced as 26:43, but was later revised to 26:45.
Harbert Kibet from Uganda won Sunday's race in Castellón in 26:39.
