Andreas Almgren set a new Swedish record on the 5-kilometer road in Drammen, Norway.
The 29-year-old runner won the race convincingly with a time of 13.05, eight seconds from the European record on the distance.
"I'm significantly better now than at the same time last year," he says according to a press release from the Swedish Athletics Federation.
Three months ago, Almgren set a European record on the 10-kilometer road when he ran 26.53 in Valencia.
The Frenchman Jimmy Gressier holds the European record on the 5-kilometer road, 12.57, set on home soil in Lille in March.
