A few days ago, the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) confirmed that it was in talks with successful coach Pep Guardiola, who left Manchester City after last season, about becoming the new Italy head coach. However, the 55-year-old has reportedly declined.

The focus then shifted to Pirlo, who, according to reports in both Gazzetta dello Sport and Romano, has now reached an agreement with the federation.

Pirlo played 116 games for Italy as a player and has previously coached the Italian clubs Juventus and Sampdoria. He now coaches Dubai United in the United Arab Emirates.
