André 3000 had a nearly full-sized piano on his back when he arrived at the Met Gala in New York. The artist states that it is because he is now releasing the album "7 piano sketches".
"The piano sketches are improvisations. To evoke them, I spread my fingers on the keys and move them aimlessly but meaningfully until I come up with something good and interesting", he explains on Instagram, writes Entertainment Weekly.
The album was recorded on the artist's iPhone and is said not to have been intended for the public, but is released anyway. André 3000 says he has been inspired by artists such as Thelonious Monk, Philip Glass, and Joni Mitchell.
André 3000 broke through in the rap group Outkast, but has experimented with music in more unexpected directions in recent years. Just over a year ago, the album "New blue sun" was released, where the artist played improvised instrumental free jazz on the flute.
