Ebba Andersson's silver medal slipped off during the victory celebrations. It meant just as much, anyway. Now that it has sunk in, I realize that this is my third Olympics but only my first individual medal.

Behind the superior Frida Karlsson, Ebba Andersson was responsible for another strong skiathlon effort. After two straight World Cup golds, she now also has an Olympic silver in the distance event.

Andersson was competing at her third Olympics, but this was her first individual medal.

It gives you some perspective on how tough it is to succeed when it matters most. It feels long-awaited, and it's nice that it comes right in the first distance event. Then I know that the form doesn't seem too crazy.

The silver medal also took a flight. It came loose from its strap when Andersson took a victory lap with Karlsson.

The medal is perhaps not made to be worn around your neck when you're halfway through the race. Especially at Frida Karlsson's pace.
