He succeeds Kerstin Almegård, who has been chairman since 2023 and has served on the organization's board since 2014.
"The assignment is honorable, and I feel deeply humbled by it. I have worked in the artistic field my entire life and react instinctively when freedom of expression or people are restricted," says Teglund in a press release.
Swedish Pen monitors, maps and counteracts threats to free speech in Sweden and internationally. Since 1985, the organization has awarded the Tucholsky Prize to authors who live under threat because of their writing.
