Anders Johansson will become the new state epidemiologist on October 1, according to a press release from the Public Health Agency of Sweden. He has previously worked on issues such as antibiotic resistance and vaccine safety, and has held leading roles in crisis management in both regional and national organizations.
He most recently served as professor of infectious diseases at Umeå University and as medical director and chief hygiene physician in the Västerbotten region.
