Hellström has a background as a dancer at, among others, the Royal Ballet. But in 1999, he became the artistic leader of the Gothenburg Opera's dance company and thereafter for the Netherlands Dance Theatre. As a freelance teacher and choreographer, he has worked with a long range of ballet companies, including the Royal Ballet.
After many years abroad, he looks forward to returning to Sweden.
"It will be a challenging task with opportunities during the upcoming renovation of the Opera House at Gustav Adolf's Square," says Anders Hellström in a press release.
He is looking forward to his new job and starts on August 1.
