Småland's Amo HK will soon begin their third consecutive season in the top league for men's handball. But now the elite team's future is threatened.
On Monday, the Swedish Handball Federation (SHF) announced that Uppvidinge municipality must present concrete plans for a renovation of the Amokabelhallen. Otherwise, it may be the end of handball at an elite level in the hall as early as December 12, when Amo plays the last match of the autumn season.
”For the municipality's brand, inhabitants and companies, an elite team is needed in the municipality - now political visions and action are required. We appeal to the decision-makers in Uppvidinge municipality to immediately make clear decisions with a concrete timetable and to dare to invest in Alstermo and Uppvidinge”, the club writes.
The handball league starts on September 17.
