The premiere in the handball league offered drama when Amo HK for the first time in five attempts managed to defeat the top team Sävehof. The Smålanders took a heavy scalp at home through a win 34–32 after having decided in the final minutes.

Amo got a flying start with five straight goals before Sävehof found their way into the match. Despite the deficit, the guests managed to work their way back, largely thanks to a more stable defense and a breakthrough from Magnus Persson.

In the second half, the game became more even. Amo's Danish star Mathias Mark Pedersen continued to deliver – twelve goals in total – while Magnus Persson took great responsibility in Sävehof's attack. When Truls Grøtta put his team in the lead, the Partille guests seemed to be able to go for the win.

But Amo refused to give up. With a few minutes left, the home team turned the match around again. Lynx Beverskog and Hampus Karlsson scored the decisive goals and completed the upset.

In parallel, four other matches were played when the handball season got underway. HK Malmö beat Alingsås 40–35 at home. Skövde took an away win against Hallby, 34–27, and Karlskrona won at home against Guif with 30–26.

Bottom-tipped VästeråsIrsta kept pace at home against Önnered but were defeated 25–33.

Ystads IF is the reigning champion.
