”The Nigerian authorities must immediately put an end to the almost daily bloodshed in Benue state and bring the perpetrators to justice”, writes Amnesty in a post on X.

The attacks are said to have started on Friday and continued into Saturday, according to Amnesty.

Many people are also said to be missing and injured.

”Many families were locked in and burned in their bedrooms”, writes Amnesty.

The reason behind the violence is not clear, but the region has long been plagued by bloody conflicts between nomadic livestock farmers and farmers.
