Alongside the wars in the Middle East, Israeli settlements in the West Bank are expanding through violence. Since 2023, Bedouins and Palestinian farmers have been partially or completely displaced from at least 117 communities, according to a report by Amnesty International.
It cannot be blamed on lone extremists, but rather on government policies that arm, support and finance settlers with the aim of expanding annexation, according to the organization.
"What we are witnessing is a deliberate and state-driven annexation, in complete violation of international law, unfolding before the eyes of the entire world," said Amnesty International Secretary-General Agnès Callamard in a statement.
