The aircraft carrier USS Gerald Ford has been at sea for ten months, and during that time has been operating in the Caribbean in connection with attacks on vessels the United States says were being used for smuggling, as well as off the coast of Venezuela when American forces removed Venezuela's then-President Nicolás Maduro.

A fire on board was reported in mid-March. In addition, the aircraft carrier has had problems with the toilets on board, which has caused sanitary problems.

The US still has two aircraft carriers deployed in the Middle East: the USS Abraham Lincoln and the USS George H.W. Bush.
