The American chip manufacturer Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) and Open AI have signed an agreement. The agreement can give Open AI up to 10 percent of the shares in the chip manufacturer, if certain conditions in the agreement are met.
Open AI in turn undertakes to buy a large quantity of AI chips from AMD and to operate with their graphics processors for several years. The parties do not disclose how much the deal is worth.
AMD's share surges 25 percent in American trading. Sector colleague Nvidia backs down in its turn.
