Earnings per share in the quarter were $1.66, higher than the $1.62 analysts had expected on average.
Sales increased by 50 percent compared with the same quarter last year and reached $11.5 billion, compared with the $11.3 billion the market had expected on average.
The company's stock fell more than 7 percent in after-hours trading.
