The Ambulance Association believes that the police are not enough and wants the regions to investigate the possibility of using security companies for high-risk calls.
We need security units that can quickly respond to cases where the police do not have the resources to send officers or are geographically too far away, says Henrik Johansson, union secretary at the Swedish Ambulance Association, to Ekot.
The demand is aimed at five particularly vulnerable regions: Gävleborg, Skåne, Stockholm, Örebro and Västra Götaland.
There are also calls for Region Gävleborg to further improve security after the murder in September 2025.
